Trip to Rwanda

In July 2022, Martin, Xiaowei, JunYann, Maurice, Florian, Siyu, Xiaoye, Ke and Sizhuo went to Rwanda. We (Maurice) organized a workshop with about 40 participants and introduced our tree mapping approach, which will now be implemented in the national tree monitoring systems of Rwanda. The country will be the first that systematically maps each tree and its carbon stock of the entire country at a repeated basis.  We are happy to collaborate with the Rwanda Forest Authority and the Rwanda Space Agency. The corresponding paper can be found here: https://www.researchsquare.com/article/rs-1536453/v1. After the workshop we measured trees in several national parks, covering savanna, plantations, rainforest and degraded forest.
